Shipping the Foundation: Attach.dev's First Steps Toward AI-Native Infrastructure

    The Core Question

Attach.dev was conceived around a fundamental inquiry: "What would the modern AI stack look like if it was designed for developers, not dashboards?" This vision led to creating the Attach Gateway and Attach Cloud starter—composable tools enabling developers to manage metering, authentication, context, and orchestration across language models and agents while maintaining transparency rather than relying on obscured complexity.

    Current Development Areas

API Gateway for LLMs: Attach Gateway offers request metering, multi-model routing, and authentication layers aligned with developer workflows, eliminating vendor lock-in and unpredictable throttling.

Long-term Memory and Context: Memory systems are being designed to support multi-user collaboration while maintaining privacy boundaries and scalable caching patterns without context leakage across threads or team members.

Agent Orchestration: Attach Cloud will enable agents to operate locally or in cloud environments with deterministic execution, predictable billing, and CI/CD-ready workflows.

OpenBotAuth Integration: The project addresses the gap in agent identity infrastructure by experimenting with OpenBotAuth for signing, verifying, and attributing requests across multi-agent and multi-tenant scenarios.

    Strategic Importance

As AI systems grow increasingly distributed, stateful, and personalized, underlying infrastructure cannot remain secondary. Developers require transparent, portable, and trustworthy tools enabling rapid deployment without sacrificing system clarity or control.
